"D. Strom - 50 Year Journey" Exhibit at the Pearson Lakes Art Center!
2017 artist David Strom will be having a solo exhibit at the Pearson Lakes Art Center in Okoboji, Iowa from July 6th through August 26th in the Monte Pearson Gallery. The artists reception coincides with the 2017 Artisans Road Trip exhibit starting the same evening - you can bounce from one show to the other! The reception and openings start at 5 pm Thursday July 6 and last though 7 pm.
Stop by and see Strom's unique take on the environment so familiar to each of us in this region and enjoy his graphic drawing and painting styles, framing the inescapable landscape of northern Iowa and southern Minnesota.

2016 A.R.T. Artist David Strom Exhibit - "A Journey..."

and folk quilts. It is my hope that after seeing these paintings the viewer will become more aware of this universal shape which sits humbly on our landscape, just as it does in other parts of the world."
David Strom works out of his studio in Windom MN. He received his BFA in Painting from Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 1973 and also studied at Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, in Skowhegan, ME, in 1972. David has exhibited extensively in Minnesota and Iowa in solo and juried exhibitions. His most recent exhibitions include, Carnegie Art Center, Mankato, MN, (2016); Phipps Center for the Arts, Hudson, WI, (2014); William Whipple Gallery, SMSU, Marshall, MN, (2014); Nobles County Art Center, Worthington, MN, (2013); SMAC Art Gallery, Marshall, MN, (2012); Pearson Lakes Art Center, Okoboji, IA; (2012); and Arts Center of St. Peter, St. Peter, MN, (2011).
Strom has also been the recipient of the Individual Artist Career Grant from Southwest Minnesota
Arts Council, (2004 and 2011).

Artisans Road Trip Artists in the Nobles County Art Center Area Art Show 2015

Tim Arand-McIlrath with his mixed media sculpture "Caught" was selected as "Best in Show" by juror Dan Wahl at the Nobles County Art Center Area Exhibition in Worthington, MN.
"Figure Study in Three" by Holly Zinn was selected as "Honorable Mention".
This exhibition shows many media and provides a fresh look at what is happening art wise in our area. Dan Wahl from Walnut Grove, MN served as juror for the exhibition. He selected a great variety of artworks for awards. The Awards were announced at the Opening Artist Reception held April 12.
Congratulations to all the A.R.T. members who entered their artwork into this exhibition. If you are in the area stop in to see this exhibition.

2013 Artisan Road trip Artists Participate in Nobles County Art Center's April Annual Area Show

Four Artisan Road Trip artists currently have artwork in the April Annual Area Art Show at the Nobles County Art Center in Worthington MN. Timothy Arand-McIlrath, Hank Hall, William Lieb, and David Strom are exhibiting work in the exhibition.
Bob Tieger was the juror and selected the awards. He is from Aberdeen SD, a former art instructor at Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon. The exhibition opened April 7 and continues through the month of April.
Arand-McIlrath is exhibiting "Doilied",discharged screen printed fabic with crocheted yarn as well as two other mixed media pieces.
Bill Lieb is exhibiting two sculptures. Space Maneuvers #4 was selected for the Honorable Mention award. The piece was cut from a single piece of steel, ground and polished, bent, patinated black, painted in spots with acrylic paint, and then waxed.
Hank Hall is represented with "Black on Black Teapot Triptych", which was selected for a Merit Award.
David Strom's "Winds and Bins", black acrylic paint, white craypas , corrugated paper and hi tec silver floral spray on a heavy 300 lb arches paper., was also selected for a Merit Award.

David is currently exhibiting in Marshall, Minnesota at the William Whipple Gallery at Southwest MN State University and his exhibit will be up until April 4th. The show is made up of black and white pen & ink drawings exploring a couple of ongoing themes: Grain
Bins/ Huts and fantasy landscapes . Most of the drawings were done
within the last 5years.
David lives and works in Windom, MN and can be contacted at his studio in Windom.
